Chapter

Nine

Getting behind the wheel at the size Symon was, was a challenge.

A challenge.

Ha!

He wedged himself behind the wheel, not bothering with the seat belt, and tried to figure out if he could reach the gas pedal with his toes.

“Okay, come on. Dev needs you. Apparently there’s a bear.” Which, okay, weird. And what about this mysterious redhead? He blew out a breath, and boom, he could make it.

Symon patted his belly with one hand. “Come on, boys. We need to rescue your papa.”

He heard a little chitter of encouragement, as if they were all saying, “Papapapa.” They agreed.

So he headed down the mountain to the coordinates Dev had given him, and sang to himself to keep from freaking out so much. It was going to be dark soon, and he was trying not to just lose it, because he hadn’t driven like this before. But Devlin needed his help, and he wanted to prove he could do stuff.

And he wanted to make sure this redhead was not going to be a damn problem.

After all, he was the size of a damn house, but he wasn’t sharing his mate.

At all.

He would bite.

Hard.

He toddled down the mountain until the county road turn off, and sure enough, Devlin’s truck was parked there, Devlin waiting for him in there.

“You made it!” Devlin came jogging over to his car. “Thank goodness. Walking her up the mountain would have taken hours.”

“I don’t know if I can get out, love. I’m sort of…wedged in.”

“Oh, baby.” Devlin opened the door and helped pull him out, gently lifting him to his feet. “Thank you so much for coming.”

“Anything for you. Seriously.” He hugged his alpha hard, holding on until something snuffled against his side. Then he screamed like a banshee, coming face-to-face with a grizzly.

“Wait! It’s okay, Symon. This is Oona.”

He panted, his back to Devlin’s chest, because he’d tried to backpedal right into the car again. “Oona?”

“The bear. She’s going to protect our babies.”

“You want to put her in my car?” Would she even fit in there?

“If I put the seats down. The other option is you and Stormy drive up and I wait with Oona until dark and fly her up.”

Oona moaned piteously, head sniffing his belly again.

“Okay. Okay. Breathe. You’re fine. Who’s Stormy?”

“Illusion dragon.” Like it was so simple.

“What does that even mean?”

“It means I can look like a bear when I need to.” A redheaded dragon of tiny stature appeared out of thin air, making him shriek again.

“Goddess! Are you all trying to kill me?”

Oona plopped down on her butt and waved her paws at him.

“She’s still a little stoned,” Dev explained.

“Stoned.” How are we going to feed her?

“Yes. I’ll drive the bear, you drive the triplets and your omega.”

“The what?” No. Fucking. Way.

Stormy beamed. “Triplets. They’re going to be so cute. But you need to get them home, Dev.”

“What is going on!” He waved his arms in the air, trying not to lose it.

“We have groceries in the truck we need to get home. The bear got tranqued trying to get to us, so we had to save her.
